If you’ve ever golfed at a public course, you know it can be hit or miss. Sometimes it’s like playing at a no-jeans-allowed country club. Other times it’s like witnessing a scene straight out of Caddyshack (gambling is illegal at Bushwood, sir. And I never slice.)
There is something to be said about people that come back to visit their roots and donate to the cause. Take those same alumni and mix in a golf tournament that benefits the local community and you’ve got the Red and Gold Scramble.

A Championship Course in the Allegheny Forest Region; The Fast Green Separates it from Others
By Megan Sorokes
Golfers seeking a championship course with magnificent landscapes, a friendly staff and challenging greens, can find it deep in the heart of Pennsylvania’s Allegheny National Forest at Pine Acres Country Club.
Kirk Stauffer, head golf professional at Pine Acres Country Club, said Pine Acre’s fast green separates it from other courses.
“Our green speed is faster than most,” he said. “The putting surface is better, and it’s sometimes harder to score because of the demand it has on your iron game.”
